Piano Raises $22M, Will Expand R&D, Client Services

Content monetization and audience intelligence tech company Piano.io has raised $22 million in a Series B funding round led by private-equity firm Updata Partners.

Piano works with publishers such as Hearst and Condé Nast to grow their audiences and subscribers with data-driven services.

Piano is also considering several acquisitions and international expansion.

In 2018, Piano opened its European headquarters in Amsterdam and is working with Global Media Group, The Independent, Le Parisien and Les Échos.

“This funding will allow us to continue to serve our growing client base by enhancing our products and services, helping content businesses build dedicated audiences and grow their profitability,” stated Piano CEO Trevor Kaufman.

In the past year, Piano claims it has doubled its client base, adding more than 50 clients, including Source Media and The Daily Beast.

Piano works with over 1,000 media companies, such as Business Insider, The Economist, Bloomberg and Men’s Health. The companyemploys 180 staffers.
