Garmin and Discover have partnered to enable cardholders to make contactless payments using Garmin smartwatches.

Discover card holders now can use Garmin Pay at retail locations that accept Discover cards and are equipped to handle contactless near-field communication transactions.

Garmin Pay, powered by FitPay, is now available on Garmin’s latest line of active lifestyle smartwatches, including the new GPS running watches and the Delta aviator watch series.

After a payment card is added to Garmin’s virtual wallet via the Garmin mobile app, users can tap an enabled terminal to execute a payment.

“Someone can be out on a jog or running errands and the ability to pay with Discover from their Garmin watch is a quick tap away,” stated Shaida Lynch, vice president of ebusiness at Discover.
