GOP Group Apologizes For Calling Ocasio-Cortez A 'Terrorist' In Email: Report

The Ohio College Republican Federation has apologized for an email labeling Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) as a "domestic terrorist," following an outcry, Salon reports.

The GOP group apologized for the “unacceptable language" in the message and says it “does not condone the unauthorized email sent out in our name."

The email, which went out under the name of Tom Ferrall, chairman of the Ohio Federation of College Republicans, may be a harbinger of things to come as the 2020 election approaches.

Fundraising emails, although mostly aimed at loyal political bases on both sides, are increasingly becoming more public and likely to be censored for their over-the-top language.

"This puts me in danger every time,”  Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Almost every time this uncalled for rhetoric gets blasted by conserv. grps, we get a spike in death threats to refer to Capitol Police.”

The subject line of the offending email reads: "AOC is a domestic terrorist," Salon notes.

Then the email says: "My peers are being brainwashed on a daily basis by Marxist professors who hate America and capitalism. My fellow students often tell me that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a 'role model' and that America should be more like socialist Europe. We need your help to stop the brainwashing!"
