CBS' 'Colbert' Tops In Viewers For TV Season

CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” bested other late-night programs in total viewers, and for the first time is tops among 18-49 viewers.

Season-to-date, “The Late Show” earned 3.77 million viewers, with NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” at 2.43 million and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” with 2.04 million.

All three shows were down from a year ago. “Late Show” had 3.85 million viewers, “Tonight” had 2.68 million and “Kimmel” hit 2.26 million.

“Late Show” was also tops in 18-49 viewers for the season -- just beating out “Tonight Show.”

It averaged a 0.52 rating/4 share (679,000 viewers) to “Tonight” with 0.51/4 (659,000 viewers). “Kimmel” was at 0.38 rating/3 share among 18-49 viewers. A year ago, “Tonight” was at a 0.65/4; “Late Show” at 0.59/4; and “Kimmel” came in at 0.47/3.

In its former iteration, “Late Show with David Letterman” bested “Tonight” in the 1994-1995 season.

Helping the show out in the most recent week was the cast of “The Big Bang Theory.” Their appearance was in conjunction with the show's final episode after an 12-year run. The show earned 5.8 million total viewers.

NBC leads other late-night programming. “Late Night With Seth Meyers” (at 12:35 a.m.) had 1.45 million average total viewers and a 0.30 rating/3 share in the 18-49 demographic. CBS’ “Late Late Show with James Corden” earned 1.35 million total viewers and 0.23/2 for 18-49. ABC’s “Nightline" had 1.27 million viewers and came ina at 0.25/2.

In addition, NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly” (at 1:35 p.m.) saw 730,000 total viewers and a 0.18/2 in 18-49 viewers.
