Walmart Taps Smart Tech To Deliver Groceries Into Consumers' Refrigerators

Walmart is expanding its same-day grocery delivery service to include Walmart associates using smart entry technology to enter customers’ homes and deliver food directly into kitchens and refrigerators.

The InHome service is set to start in the fall for 1 million customers in Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Vero Beach, according to the company.

“Part of our core ecommerce strategy is to innovate for the future and leverage our unique assets,” stated Marc Lore, president and CEO, Walmart eCommerce U.S. “The technology powering InHome Delivery combines the power of our store footprint, store associates and world-class fresh supply chain. Now we can serve customers not just in the last mile, but in the last 15 feet.”

Walmart expects to have its grocery pickup service in 3,100 stores by the end of the year.

To use the service, shoppers can place an order online and select InHome Delivery at checkout. The person making the delivery will use smart entry technology and a wearable camera so the customer can watch the deliveries remotely.

    SERIOUSLY, we need this WHY?
people entering with "smart technology" are still entering your house.  They can't "case" the place and come back later or tell their "friends" about the house??
Tech nerds have thrown common sense and privacy down the river.
You give them your grocery list
you give them your bank info
You give them access to your house
What could possibly go wrong here???
