Ikea Plans Voice-Controlled Smart Blinds

Delayed from a scheduled February launch, Swedish retailer Ikea now plans to introduce smart blinds in the U.S. market in August.

The voice-compatible smart shades are designed to work with voice controls via Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Siri.

“The delay is due to the fact that we found an opportunity for increased functionality and therefore wanted to update the products' software before we launched the blinds in our stores,” states the Ikea smart blinds announcement.

The blinds will sell in two styles internationally, but one in the U.S. The blinds also will work with Ikea’s Tradfri smart lighting kit, including its wireless remote.
