Apple TV Channels Hub Adds CBS All Access To Its Services Roster

Apple has officially added CBS All Access to the offerings available through Apple TV Channels, its new OTT streaming subscription hub.

Apple TV Channels allows users to pay for and watch third-party subscription services through its TV app on iOS and tvOS, rather than have to subscribe to and watch content through a variety of dedicated third-party apps.

When Apple Channels debuted within Apple’s redesigned TV app in March, CBS All Access was among channels listed as “upcoming.” CBS tweeted on July 26 that All Access would be launching on the Apple hub on July 29, but the debut didn’t actually occur until yesterday afternoon.

CBS All Access offers access to sports and other live CBS programming, plus more than 10,000 on-demand episodes from CBS shows. TV shows can be downloaded for offline viewing, according to 9to5mac.

As with direct subscriptions to CBS All Access, users who order it through Apple Channels get a seven-day free trial, and if they don’t cancel, are auto-billed each month. The per-month fee for CBS All Access on Apple Channels is $9.99 – the same fee that CBS charges for direct orders of the commercial-free version of the app. (The app also has a “limited commercials” version that costs $5.99 per month.)

The addition of CBS All Access on Wednesday brings the number of services available through Apple Channels to 20.

Channels offered at launch included HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, EPIX, MTV Hits, Tastemade and Smithsonian. Services since added include Comedy Central Now, PBS Living, Sundance Now, Acorn TV, Lifetime Movie Club, UMC, Curiosity Stream, History Vault, Arrow Video Channel, Shudder and Mubi.
