Mobile payments at gas
pumps made without an app are being introduced by Sionic Mobile.
The connected services company is integrating its payment system into point-of-sale fuel dispensers by Gilbarco
Veeder-Root.
When approaching a participating gas station, the driver will receive a mobile message, which can be tapped to select and turn on a gas pump.
“Consumers crave fast,
simple and secure forms of payment,” stated Matthew Packer, marketing manager for passport partnerships at Gilbarco Veeder-Root. “Integrating Sionic Mobile’s ULink service into
Passport eliminates steps in the payment process to create a seamless fueling experience.”
If a consumer is not enrolled in the fuel retailer’s loyalty program, they can join with
a single tap.
