ESPN has become the latest content partner for Quibi, the short-form video platform from Jeffrey Katzenberg set to launch in April 2020.
ESPN will be the exclusive U.S. multisport content provider for the mobile-first platform’s curated news and information programming, dubbed Daily Essentials.
The Quibi-exclusive daily ESPN show will highlight the day’s biggest sports news stories in under 10 minutes.
ESPN is now owned by The Walt Disney Company. Katzenberg is a former chairman of Walt Disney Studios and a founder of DreamWorks. His Quibi co-founder is Meg
Whitman, a former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and eBay.
NBC News and BBC Global news are among Quibi’s other content partners.
NBC will develop mobile-only morning and evening news programming, and BBC Global will produce daily international news programming.
