Hyundai Intros AI-Based Smart Cruise Control

Hyundai has developed a technology based on machine learning that incorporates the driver’s patterns into its self-driving behavior.

The feature, called an industry first by Hyundai, incorporates artificial intelligence in the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which is planned to be included in future Hyundai Motor Group vehicles.

“The system improves upon the intelligence of the previous ADAS technology to dramatically improve the practicality of semi-autonomous features,” stated Woongjun Jang, vice president at Hyundai Motor Group.

Smart cruise control enables a self-driving feature that keep the vehicle a certain distance behind the vehicle in front of it.

The new Hyundai system, called SCC-ML, combines smart cruise control into a system that learns a driver’s patterns and habits on its own.

Cameras and radar constantly acquire driving information and send it to a centralized computer, which extracts relevant details to identify the driver’s patterns.
