Mimecast Acquires DMARC Analyzer

Email security firm Mimecast has acquired DMARC Analyzer, a provider of an email validation software tool. Terms were not disclosed.

The Netherlands-based DMARC Analyzer offers what it calls user-friendly DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance). The purchase allows users to deal with threats at the email perimeter, Mimecast says.

Mimecast seeks to help brands to ensure their email is authenticated, states Mimecast CEO Peter Bauer.

The purchase adds to Mimecast’s capabilities,” Bauer adds.

In a recent study, Mimecast and Vanson Bourne found that 65% of firms have seen an increase in impersonation attacks. But only a third are using DMARC to combat such threats.

“Research has shown that impersonation attacks targeting employees, customers, suppliers and partners are all on the rise -- and they can affect organizations large and small,” Bauer says.

“These types of attacks are tricky, as they often bypass traditional security solutions and are not easily identifiable to the untrained eye," Bauer adds.
