Microsoft, Ericsson Team On Connected Cars

Microsoft and Ericsson are partnering to integrate the companies’ connected car platforms.

The Ericsson Connected Vehicle Cloud is being built on top of the Microsoft Connected Vehicle Platform, with both running on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

The integration aims to allow carmakers to scale global vehicle services such as connected safety features and over-the-air software updates.

Ericsson’s Connected Vehicle Cloud connects more than 4 million vehicles in 180 countries.

“The partnership will deliver a comprehensive connected vehicle platform at scale to the market,” stated Asa Tamsons, senior vice president and head of business area technologies and new businesses at Ericsson. “Our integrated solutions will help automotive manufacturers accelerate their global connected vehicle solutions and offer a better experience for drivers and passengers.”
