Digital Media 'Demand' Higher For Netflix, Apple TV+

Netflix and Apple TV+ have seen rising “demand expression” on digital sites -- social media and otherwise -- due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Netflix grew to a 33.4% share of “demand” digital media expressions in the two weeks after the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11th declared COVID-19  to be a global pandemic, according to Parrot Analytics.

Two weeks before March 11, Netflix was at 32.5%.

Apple TV+ demand was also higher -- although landing at a much lower overall share  -- with just a 0.66% share, up from 0.60% in the two weeks before March 11.

Among other streamers, Hulu came in at a 37.7% share (38.1% previously), followed by Amazon Prime, flat at 16%; CBS All Access at 6.1% (6.2% previously), Disney+, 4.9% (5.1% previously) and DC Universe, 1.3% (1.4% previously).

Parrot Analytics says Apple TV+ definitely improved due to a general rise in at-home content consumption. But it also says two new Apple TV+’s original series Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet “ and Steven Spielberg’s “Amazing Stories”  are factors in its demand rise.

Parrot says its “demand share” data comes from more than 1.5 billion daily expressions of demand in over 100 languages in more than 200 countries.

Research comes from blog, microblogging sites, and research sites (Wikipedia, Reddit, etc), review platforms (Rotten Tomatoes, newspapers, etc), video sites for trailers (YouTube), streaming apps and social media.
