Microsoft Outlook suffered an outage on Wednesday, with complaints peaking around 2 p.m. on downdetector. The issue apparently is being resolved.
The extent of the problem was not clear at
deadline. But the problems appeared to hit users on the East Coast, Midwest and the West Coast, according to the downdetector outage map.
Of the reports coming in to downdetector, 73% were for
log-in, 18% for website issues and 8% were for receiving messages.
“OWA, we're getting the AADSTS50011: error others have reported in o365 site,” writes one user on
downdetector.
Another writes, “Cannot open outlook email at all, just won't open, but can still get word and excel fine. What's going on?”
The reporter has also
experienced this problem around 3 p.m., but service was quickly restored.
One complainant writes: “I was having same issue logging on to Outlook through Chrome. I was able
to log on through Firefox plus my Outlook desktop app works fine. It's something with Microsoft's Exchange Online service and Chrome.
