NBCU's Peacock Premium To Be Available On Google Platforms, Devices Free Through Oct. 15

Ramping up for it wide-U.S. release of its mid-July launch, NBCUniversal's new Peacock Premium -- an upgraded option of its new Peacock video service -- will be available on Google platforms and devices free for the first three months.

The promotion for all Google’s Android-based, Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices will start on July 15, 2020  -- the official Peacock launch date.

When the Google promotion ends on October 15, 2020, Peacock Premium will be available for $4.99 per month -- its regular monthly price.

Peacock Premium, an advertising-supported version, offers 15,000 hours of content. Viewers may also upgrade to an Peacock Premium ad-free tier for an additional $5.00 per month -- $14.99 in total.

The basic Peacock service, which also starts up July 15, is a free, advertising-supported platform but with more limited content than Peacock Premium. It will have more than 7,500 hours of movies and shows with live and on-demand programming of news, sports, reality television and late-night

Both Peacock and Peacock Premium ad-supported versions will have five minutes per hour of advertising -- much less than on legacy, linear TV networks.

In April, Peacock had a limited early preview launch rolled out to Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex customers at no additional cost. Xfinity X1 and Flex are sister businesses to Comcast’s NBCUniversal unit.

Other recently launched services -- HBO Max, Apple TV+, Disney+ -- also offered different promotional options of free trials to give those platforms a big sampling push for potential consumers.
