Trump Sons Send Out Disapproving Campaign Emails

Donald Trump’s sons are engaging in an aggressive email campaign designed to drive donations and participation in events — and failing that, to drive feelings of guilt.

For instance, Eric Trump has put out a subject line, saying “This isn’t like you,” according to a column by Bill Nemitz.

The email continues: “Team Trump just informed me that you haven’t accepted my father’s offer to join the Trump 100 Club, and I have to admit I’m pretty disappointed.”

An email from Donald Trump Jr. takes a similar track, saying: “Have you stopped checking your email? You’ve been invited to join my father at the 2020 Convention Celebration in Florida, but our records show that you’ve IGNORED all of our emails.”

Nemitz, clearly no Trump admirer, submitted his email address on the Team Trump website.

Soon, he was being told by Donald Trump Jr. that Vice President Pence would be “disappointed” if he didn’t get a chance to meet him at a July 9 dinner.

“The Vice President even requested to take a picture with you so that you can both remember the trip forever.”

Under the heading, “Chicken or steak?”, Donald Jr. asks, “Is there something I’m missing?

The tone grew slightly threatening as the days went on.

“I convinced my father to give you another chance,” Eric said on July 4.

He added, “We won’t extend your match offer again. Don’t let the president down.”

Soon, Nemitz also received an email from Lara Trump, Eric’s wife.

Brand marketers often remind customers when they haven't responded, often saying things like "Last chance."

It’s not clear what impact such emails have on true Trump supporters. For his part, Nemitz apparently feels threatened.

“It’s hard to imagine, as Trump’s poll numbers continue to plummet, how much worse this constant barrage -- I’m averaging at least six emails per day -- will get.”

Nemitz continues: “The longer I go without responding, the more I suspect I’ll feel like the late Fred Jr., whose emotional abuse at the hands of his father and younger brother pretty much ruined his life.”

All is true. What makes it worse, is 20+ emails per day from Eric, from Lara, from Mike Pence, from the Donald J. Trump himself. Talk about excess frequency. Message burnout indeed. I am going to guess the open rate is 0.00001%. So, in DR terms, they increase the email frequency even more!

Thanks, Bill, for taking one for the team.

Their father has used peer pressure to get his followers to risk their lives and the lives of others by not wearing masks. Why shouldn't they try to do the same with fundraising?
