Ecommerce site traffic has risen by 61% and revenue by 40% in North America year-over-year during this holiday season. And mobile has been the leading driver of both traffic and sales, according to
Peak Holiday 2020 Report, a study by Bloomreach.
The study states that Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping day in U.S. history.
Mobile spending rose by 45% in North
America and traffic rose by 55%. Mobile accounted for 52% of purchases made during the period, with the remainder on desktop.
Desktop traffic increased by 77% and ecommerce spend rose
by 34%.
In contrast, mobile traffic went up by 39% and spend by 3% in the UK and EU. But desktop contributed a 35% increase in traffic and 18% in ecommerce spend.
The direct website
channel accounted for 80% of mobile traffic acquisition, with 79.7% of that on desktop.
This suggests that “your website experience is paramount,” the study says.
In
the UK and EU, those numbers went up to 84.2% for mobile and 80.3% for desktop.
The sales reflected the fact that consumers are working and staying at home.
The top
products sold on Black Friday were:
- Sweater
- Pajamas
- TV
- Leggings
- Laptop
On Cyber Money, they were:
- Jogging
- Sweater
- Laptop
- Pajama
- TV
