Businesses have a new data security option in a
three-step sign-in process being offered by NordPass Business: mandatory multi-factor authentication.
Employees and other users would have to verify their identity through an
authenticator app in addition to entering their email address and password.
The goal is to provide an extra security layer for those accounts, says Gerald
Kasulis, head of business and channel operations at NordPass.
“According to our research, many people still use incredibly weak passwords, not only for their
personal accounts, but also for work-related ones, too," Kasulis says.
NordPass notes that the top password at some of the largest financial companies in the world was
simply “password.”
The NordPass process might be enforced within companies, but consumers would probably resist it. A recent study by Beyond identity showed
that shoppers are tired of the torturous password process utilized by many firms.
However, NordPass argues that there’s always a risk of employees falling
for a malicious scheme and giving away their user or master password. With this new offering, only a person with access to the authenticator app will be able to log in, it
says.
NordPass recently debuted NordPass for MSP, a password management tool that managed service providers can deliver to their
customers.
