On Tuesday, Kroll Institute –– provider of proprietary data, technology and insights related to risk, governance and growth –– named Joshua Tucker as a senior advisor and Kroll Institute Fellow. 

More specifically, Tucker will serve as a senior consultant on geopolitical issues impacting businesses and the global economy, according to the company’s recent statement. 

“We’re excited to have Joshua join the Kroll Institute. His extensive experience analyzing some of the world’s most consequential geopolitical issues will be an invaluable asset to our teams and clients amidst an era of increasing uncertainty,” says Kroll CEO Jake Silverman.

Over the past 20 years, Tucker maintained a regional specialization across Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, inundating himself in comparative politics, mass politics, elections and voting, as well as the development of partisan attachment, public opinion formation and political protest. 

Tucker’s recent research has centered around the relationship between social media and politics, such as partisan echo chambers, disinformation and false news, hate speech and propaganda, algorithms, political polarization and more. 

Alongside this new position, Tucker will maintain his various roles at New York University, where he is a professor of Politics with affiliated appointments in the department of Russian and Slavic studies and the Center for Data Science, the director of the Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia and co-director of the Center for Social Media and Politics.

Other works by Tucker include co-authorship and editorship of the long-running Washington Post politics and policy blog, “The Monkey Cage.”
