Two executives heading up Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios’ film business will leave the company this summer — the first to announce departures since Amazon acquired the company for $8.5 billion in March. 

MGM’s motion picture group Chairman Michael De Luca and its President Pam Abdy announced the news in a memo to staff on Wednesday. 

The MGM studio is now part of a division that also includes Amazon Prime and Amazon Studios and is overseen by senior vice president Mike Hopkins.

Hopkins, who may be still working out the new division’s structure, did not name replacements. However, he sent staff an email thanking De Luca and Abdy for their contributions and stressing that Amazon intends to expand rather than contract the studios’ theatrical output in the years ahead. 

De Luca, who assumed his current role in 2020, oversaw the production of hits including “House of Gucci” and Channing Tatum’s “Dog.”
