Superhuman, provider of an email productivity app, has announced a company layoff.
“I am saddened to share that we have decided to lay off 22% of the Superhuman team,” founder and CEO Rahul Vohra tweeted on Friday. “Today, we say goodbye to 23 remarkably talented Superhumans.”
Vohra added: “As we head into a downturn that could last years, we made this difficult choice so that we can deliver on our vision sustainably.”
The layoffs followed by less than a month the launch of Superhuman for Outlook. The company had initially focused on Gmail, Vhora said, because “we were building for startups, many of which use Gmail, Vohra wrote in making the announcement..
However, the company had since seen “demand from companies of every size, segment, and industry,” Vohra said, adding: “The vast majority of these companies use Office 365.”
The firm states on its site that “after 170 million messages sent, 1 billion messages triaged, and more than 1.8 billion shortcuts used, our mission remains the same: to help you be happier, more productive, and closer to achieving your potential.”
Last year, Superhuman raised $75 million Series C funding round led by IVP, with participation by Tiger Global and personal strategic investors.
Vohra wrote at the time that the funding would enable the firm to bring Superhuman to Outlook and Android users.
