NBCU, Samsung Galaxy Launch Co-Branded 'Tonight' Show Video-Game Experience

NBCUniversal and Samsung Galaxy are launching a new "metaverse" video game based around New York City's Rockefeller Center and its “Tonight” show called "Tonight at the Rock - Powered by Samsung Galaxy.”

NBC Studios and the NBC TV network headquarters are located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

Players work their way up to Studio 6B, all while using in-game functions, “inspired” by Samsung's mobile, watch, and tablet devices.

The free game is available on the Fortnite gaming platform and is available on PC, Android devices and consoles including Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, and many browser-enabled devices.

Video game players play a series of mini-games, such as "Tonight Show"-based Giant Pong, along with game modes inspired by the show called Race Up the Rock, Cabbie Crash Course, and Escape Studio 6B.

NBC says the game allows players to compete against other fans around the world.

Mark Marshall, president, advertising and partnerships, NBCUniversal, said in a release: “We’ve been collaborating with Samsung on unique, engaging integrations for over the past few years to bring ‘Tonight’ show audiences first-of-its-kind experiences they can’t connect with anywhere else.”

From September 2021 to September 2022, iSpot estimates, Samsung Mobile spent $89.7 million in national TV advertising on the NBC Television Network.

On Wednesday, September 21, “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” will air a special in-show integration mirroring one of the games in real life (IRL).
