Comcast Promotes Cavanagh To President

Comcast has promoted Mike Cavanagh to president.

He will continue to serve as chief financial officer in addition to working with Chairman/CEO Brian Roberts to manage Comcast’s broadband and cable operations and NBCUniversal.

Cavanagh, who becomes the third president in Comcast’s 59-year history, joined the company seven years ago as CFO.

He came to Comcast from the Carlyle Group private equity firm, where he served as co-president and co-chief operating officer. Prior to that, he held various executive positions at JPMorgan Chase Corporate & Investment Bank, including six years as CFO, followed by serving as co-CEO from 2012 to 2014.

Cavanagh “is admired and trusted by those who know and work with him,” and “has brought incredible operational and financial expertise to Comcast,” Roberts said in a statement.
