Instagram Rolls Out 'Reminders' Ad Format, Tests Ads In Search

To help businesses get discovered and be remembered, Instagram is announcing two new advertising products rolling out on the platform, including event ads with a built-in reminder feature and ads that are included in Search.

Last year, Instagram invited creators and brands to add reminders to specific event posts highlighting performances, TV show premieres or sporting events.

Users were able to choose to be reminded to attend via a clickable “Remind Me” option at the bottom of each post.

Now, the Meta-owned company is rolling out the same capability to advertisements on the platform.

Instagram says it recently partnered with brands “such as Starz” to test the new ad format, with hopes to make it easier for “businesses to announce, remind and notify people of future events or launches that they might be interested in.”

When users opt in to reminders, they will receive three notifications from Instagram one day before, 15 minutes before, and at the time of whatever event they are interested in.

Instagram is also announcing ads included in search results on the app, designed “to reach people who are actively searching for businesses, products and content,” per the company.

Ads will show up in the feed that people can scroll when they tap into a post from search results.

Instagram Ads in Search is still at the beginning of its testing phase, but Instagram says it plans to launch the placement globally in the coming months.
