Meta Elevates Alvin Bowles To Ad Sales Lead For U.S./Americas

Amid high-profile departures and mass layoffs, Meta has promoted Alvin Bowles, previously the company’s vice president of global business group Americas, to be the new ad-sales lead for the U.S. and the rest of the Americas. Bowles will be replacing Nada Stirratt, who left the company in March.

Bowles has been with Meta since 2015, when the tech giant was called Facebook. He recently presented at the company’s NewFronts show in New York last week, and is now responsible for building and managing Meta’s sales strategy in the Americas.

Bowles will also be working with advertisers on strategic initiatives.

“This role is one that resonates deeply with me, and I’m looking forward to leveraging my experience to help our partners execute on innovation and growth,” Bowles said in a recent statement.

Under Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s direction, the company has laid off over 20,000 positions since late 2022. In addition, its leadership team is changing, with Stirratt leaving, as well as Marne Levine, Meta’s chief business officer.

Meta is focused on increasing the overall impact of its short-form video offerings, scaling its new ad products associated with Reels and Stories, and using generative AI to create ads across its apps.

In his new role, Bowles will report to Nicola Mendelsohn, Meta’s head of global business groups. Mendelsohn said in a statement that she thinks Bowles has what it takes to drive a massive business forward
