Drumstick, the sundae cone, is making its own dessert history: debuting
its first Super Bowl spot.
Starring comedian Eric André, the brand's 30-second "Doctor of the Plane" spot will run in the third quarter. André is known as the creator and host of
the eponymous Adult Swim comedy "The Eric Andre Show" and as Mike on the FXX comedy series "Man Seeking Woman."
Portland, Ore.-based independent agency Öpinionated created the ad,
set during a flight emergency. It asks: Is there a doctor on the plane? Dr. Umstick (get it?) has a singular prescription — a sweet, creamy treat.
Kerry Hopkins, Drumstick marketing
director, told Agency Daily: "The 'Another Day, Another Drumstick' mantra reminds people that we are not just for summer or dessert — we are a snack worth reaching for at any time.
Since the Super Bowl is the ultimate snacking occasion, it’s the perfect opportunity to reaffirm that message."

Drumstick is also on a mission to officially designate the day after the
Super Bowl as a national holiday. The cone is debuting Feb. 12 as #DrumstickMonday and encouraging Americans to use the time off for fun — and indulge in Drumsticks.
Fans can
participate by signing the Change.org petition. Drumstick will make one #DrumstickMonday dream come true just by
signing the petition.
Öpinionated's agency work includes Voodoo Ranger beer, Sabra, Tastytrade and Depop.
Nestlé owns the Drumstick Company. The brand has been in business
since 1928 and has a variety of options, including vegan and an Oreo-KitKat-Rollo combo.
