Lady Gaga To Headline Metaverse Music Festival In Fortnite

Lady Gaga will be entering the metaverse via Fortnite. The singer-songwriter, actor and fashion icon has been asked to headline the second season of the metaverse gaming platform's "Festival" chapter.

On Tuesday, Gaga alluded to her participation in Epic Games' Fortnite spinoff rhythm game by correcting her 2019 tweet that said "What's fortnight?" with “*fortnite,” exciting fans with an in-game shot of her virtual Fortnite model.

Formed late last year, Fortnite Festival invites gamers to perform songs of their choice by hitting notes at the right time, similar to classic video games like Dance Dance Revolution or Guitar Hero. In fact, Epic Games acquired Harmonix in 2021, the developer and studio behind Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Per the Festival, Gaga's hit singles “Applause,” “Bloody Mary,” “Born This Way,” “The Edge of Glory,” “Just Dance,” “Rain on Me” and “Stupid Love” will all be available to Fortnite gamers as playable Jam Tracks they can perform to on a stage inspired by Gaga's 2020 studio album “Chromatica.”

Players can also spend in-game currency to access “Poker Face,” the game’s Premium Reward Track, Gaga-themed wearables, including a purple bodysuit designed by Nange Magro of Dead Lotus Couture, a full black leather bodysuit designed by celebrity designer Cecilio Castrillo, as well as a custom guitar, microphone, keytar and dancing emotes.

Following The Weeknd, Gaga will become the second-ever headliner of Fortnite Festival, joining other notable music stars who have entered the world of Fortnite, including Ariana Grande who performed a virtual in-game concert in 2021, Travis Scott, who used the platform to debut a new song with Kid Cudi, as well as Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, Eminem, J Balvin, Marshmello and more.

Gaga's Festival takeover will run through April 22.
