Warby Parker Gives Out Free Solar Eclipse Glasses

Designer eyeglass brand Warby Parker is getting in on the excitement that’s building for the Solar Eclipse on April 8.

“Whether you’re getting a full view or a partial peek, we’re here to help you see it,” Warby Parker said in a message on its website, adding, “As avid supporters of sharp vision, we want to make sure you have everything you need to safely witness this celestial spectacle.”

Starting in Texas, a total solar eclipse will move northeast over the continental U.S., giving locations across the country one of the greatest sights of the year.

“If you plan on traveling to the see the eclipse or are lucky enough to live in its path, you'll need to wear protective glasses to enjoy the sight while keeping your eyes safe,” according to Mashable

This will be the last total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous United States until 2044. Watching a solar eclipse involves staring directly at the sun, which can be dangerous without the right eyewear.

“You can pick up your free eclipse glasses from any of Warby Parker’s more than 250 stores across the U.S. (its website has a full list of store locations) from April 1,” according to Digital Trends. “It’s offering up to two pairs per family while supplies last. We’re betting the offer will be popular, so do swing by as early as possible if you’re keen to grab a pair (or two).”

For those not lucky enough to score the glasses, the brand will hand out a free eclipse pinhole projector, which offers another way to safely view April’s solar eclipse. If you can’t make it to a store, then you can download the template for the DIY pinhole eclipse projector from this Warby Parker web page.

The brand opened 40 stores in 2023, ending the year with 237 stores. It expects to open another 40 locations in 2024, according to Chain Store Age.
