Hemispheres, one of the remaining inflight magazines, has shut down its print edition. The September issue of the United Airlines magazine will be its last, according to ModernRetail.
The publication, which apparently will continue in digital form, was launched in 1992.
In recent years, several in-flight magazines have shuttered. American Way, published by American Airlines, was shut down in 2021, following magazines offered by Delta and Southwest.
Such closures help reduce paper waste and weight on aircraft. But they also reflect the economic truth that airlines have turned to digital entertainment for passengers.
Hemispheres was known for such features as “Three Perfect Days,” featuring international city recommendations, ModernRetail writes.
