Democrats have already marginally outspent Republicans in presidential campaign ad spending to
date, and have already committed to outspend them by a margin of more than two-to-one in terms of future ad buys, according to an analysis of bookings to date.
"Democrats have secured $296
million in future ad inventory, while Republicans have only secured $132 million," a spokesperson for ad intelligence firm AdImpact told Marketing Politics Weekly late Monday, adding the
following spending stats booked to date:
- On average, Democrats have booked $27.6 million per week in presidential spending between Labor Day and Election Day, compared to $10.1 million
for Republicans.
- Democrats have outspent Republicans in every battleground state, with Pennsylvania seeing the most spending overall. In PA alone, Democrats have spent $99.4
million, while Republicans have spent $89.4 million.
- Future Forward, a Democratic PAC, is the top-spending advertiser by total spending and future reservations, with $70.4
million in aired spending and $158.1 million in future reservations.
- Overall, outside groups have placed 64% of presidential ad spending and reservations since Super
Tuesday.
- Prior to Biden dropping out, Democratic ads focused on the character of each candidate, health care and abortion. Since Kamala Harris replaced President Joe Biden
as the nominee, Democrats have focused on crime, the economy, and housing.
- Republicans, meanwhile, have focused on immigration, crime, and character since Biden dropped
out.
