After opening up its marketplace to more creators in April, Roblox is planning to allow creators to group items for sale.

To foster purchasing “convenience” and provide a new way for creators to showcase their creative vision, for the first time, creators will be able to sell avatar "bundles," consisting of bodies, clothing, and accessories.

According to Roblox, selling avatars and items as a bundle is “much more convenient for people” and will therefore help creators further grow their in-platform businesses as users “shop for full looks all at once rather than piecemeal.”

Currently, Roblox users are only able to purchase single items. The bundling option will debut in the coming months.

The update will utilize Roblox’s recently launched search functionality, which allows users to search for avatar bundles. The metaverse gaming company says it has already seen a “positive uptick” in people shopping for full looks, rather than individual accessories.

Recently, Roblox has made a notable push toward making notable updates to its marketplace in favor of creators’ ability to sell their products while connecting with brands and their target audience. 

Until earlier this year, creators that want to sell their items had to be part of the company’s invite-only UGC program.

In April, however, Roblox opened up marketplace creation to more users with the goal of creating a more “personal, dynamic, and accessible” storefront.

That same month, Roblox also introduced new “economic levers,” including more dynamic price floors and publishing advances that the company says have helped creators earning 50,000 Robux per month increase their earnings by 85 percent year-over-year in June 2024. 

Since opening up its creation in April, Roblox says its creator community has made 22% more 3D avatar items, with new creators making up 35% of total creator earnings in June.

"Total monthly creator earnings have increased 61 percent year over year,” Roblox says, over 7,500 of the 5.5 million U.S. creators monetizing on Roblox earned over $650.
