Progressive’s new NFL campaign "The Backup" claims to illustrate
the insurance company's reliability.
New spots by Arnold Worldwide roll out Sept. 5 during the NFL opener, and run throughout the season.
The work features some of the league's best backup quarterbacks: Case Keenum, Josh Dobbs, Jacoby Brissett and Colt McCoy.
Each player will be featured in a spot that shows what Progressive can accomplish.
The first in the series, “Backup Backup,” features a dad struggling to park a trailer in the driveway. He family watches aghast as he repeatedly smashes into a fence. When it becomes clear that he’s botched the job, Case Keenum steps in to offer much-needed backup.
And while backups may not be hanging around in real life, Progressive provides the coverage needed to protect your home and car.

"Most football fans have an irrational love for their team’s back-up quarterback. And something like 65 different quarterbacks started games in the NFL last year, so back-ups have never been more relevant or important. Since they’re getting their chance to shine on the field, we figured it was high-time back-up QBs got their chance to shine as celebrity spokespeople, too," Sean McBride, chief creative officer, Arnold Worldwide, told Agency Daily.
