AKQA Taps Zeller For New Head Of Social Role

 

WPP’s AKQA has appointed media industry veteran Adam Zeller to be the lead of its growing social practice.  

Emphasizing the importance of the hire, Simon Jefferson, Managing Partner at AKQA says that “social has become the main channel for brands to connect with their consumers.”

The agency has been developing its social practice over the past few years and Zeller’s role is new. As part of his effort leading the practice, Zeller, a 20-plus-year media industry veteran, is tasked with striking new partnerships with creators, influencers, and key opinion leaders.   

He’ll also oversee strategy, content, and execution for a roster of social clients, including Levi Strauss & Co., NordicTrack, and iFIT.  

He will report to Sebastian Gunnewig, executive director, brand consulting. 

Prior to joining AKQA, Zeller was senior vice president of global digital marketing at Disney, and vice president of social media at NBCUniversal, where he built social media marketing teams for Bravo and Oxygen. Those efforts are credited with significantly boosting ratings and brand loyalty.
