'Daily Mail' Creates Video Hub To Compensate For TikTok Loss

TikTok was set to go back online at deadline. However, the Daily Mail has created a hub to serve short-term video content in the event of a TikTok blackout.

“There is a huge appetite for our journalism in this format and users will continue to watch our addictive content wherever they choose to consume it — be it Instagram, YouTube Shorts, or now our own homepage,” says Katie Davies, editor-in-chief, DailyMail.com.

Phil Harvey, head of social video for the Daily Mail, claims that with "25 million followers and 40 billion video views in 2024, Daily Mail has solidified its position as TikTok's leading news account.”

TikTok had said it would be closing down on Sunday in response to the law banning it and the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the shutdown. However, incoming President Donald Trump has said he might delay the ban for 90 days.
