Acura Goes To The Movies: Automaker's Sundance Agenda

In its 15th year as a presenting sponsor at the Sundance Film Festival, Acura will run special events and venues -- with a focus on industry diversity -- help present two films, and transport festival-goers around Park City, Utah in an electric vehicle.

That car is the new all-electric Acura ZDX, which will take its place as an official vehicle of the festival and arrive at dealerships early this year. Additionally, Acura’s lineup of performance vehicles will be on display throughout Park City, including the MDX Type S, Integra Type S and RDX A-spec.

The automaker will again present its Acura House of Energy, which will host interviews, panels, mixers and premiere parties starting Jan. 24, partnering with such organizations as GLAAD, Women in Film, and Producers Guild of America, and official Festival partners IMDb, ASCAP, Gold House, and Variety.

Keeping with Acura’s philosophy of a “challenger brand for challenger filmmakers,” much of the House of Energy programming will focus on diverse voices. That includes panels titled “Spotlight on Trans Stories and Storytellers”; "Raising Our Voices: Queer Film as a Force for Good in an Uncertain Time"; “How Female Filmmakers are Shifting Global Cinema”; and “Better Together: Mapping Gender Allyship in 2025 and Beyond.” That last panel, moderated by an exec at a talent agency -- Keya Khatayian, partner and agent at UTA – will include filmmakers from projects “spotlighting extraordinary tales of allyship.”

An invite-only brunch co-hosted by Women in Film is described as “an energetic networking gathering with featured appearances and remarks from women and gender diverse filmmakers with films in official selection at the 2025 Festival.”

We are especially proud to offer a platform to diverse and underrepresented voices in the film industry to share some of their most important stories,” Hundy Liu, manager, Acura marketing, told Marketing Daily.

“Tens of thousands of festivalgoers have been welcomed into Acura’s Sundance space over the last 15 years. Here, cinephiles have previewed our most exciting Precision Crafted Performance mobility products — including our first all-electric vehicle, the Acura ZDX, which will make its inaugural debut in our celebrity fleet this year — and will soon get up close and personal with our newest SUV, the ADX."

The automaker will also partner with two films at the festival: Max Walker-Silverman’s “Rebuilding,” starring Josh O’Connor, Meghann Fahy and Kali Reis; and Rachael Abigail Holder’s “Love, Brooklyn” starring André Holland, Nicole Beharie, and DeWanda Wise.

Sundance will run from Jan. 23 through Feb. 2.
