It’s not easy being the little brother.
Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning stares at a screen with the word “Destiny” under an image of a football goal post over a cosmic background in the latest teaser for FanDuel’s upcoming “Kick of Destiny 3.”
“They say destiny finds you -- unless your dad and brother want you to have a quarterback destiny instead,” Manning intones in the ad’s voiceover. Eli’s philosophical waxing about destiny is interrupted when his brother Peyton -- like Eli, a two-time Super Bowl champion -- shows up to ask him what he’s doing, followed by a contentious exchange.
The new teaser’s playful brotherly rivalry tone is meant to stoke excitement for FanDuel’s “Kick Of Destiny 3” Super Bowl ad, and associated programming. The brothers Manning will face off in a live competition in which each will attempt a 25-yard field goal, followed by additional attempts if no winner is crowned (and proximity to a center target acting as a tiebreaker, if one is needed after three rounds). Fox will broadcast the event, beginning at 3 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, as part of the Fox Super Bowl Pregame Show.

“With the Kick of Destiny, we set out to make FanDuel a part of Super Bowl Sunday,” FanDuel executive vice president of marketing Andrew Sneyd said in a statement. “For year three, we’re raising the stakes by introducing a rivalry and a head-to-head Kick of Destiny competition. Peyton & Eli Manning will make history by competing against each other live for the first time in Super Bowl history. May the best Manning win!”
FanDuel is also calling on fans to place a free bet on which brother will win the competition, with winning picks earning an equal share of $10 million in “Bonus Bets” on the platform.
The brand’s two Super Bowl ads running during the game will feature recap footage from the competition, as well as celebrating fans who picked the winning kicker, and the campaign will also be supported by content on FanDuel’s social media channels.
