While energy drinks are typically known for associating with athletes in more fast-paced sports like Formula One racing, skateboarding or snowboarding, Rockstar Energy has expanded its roster of athlete partners by chalking in a veteran pro golfer.
The company announced this week it has added LPGA veteran Charley Hull to its “elite athlete roster," cross-posting a celebratory message across the brand and Hull’s Instagram pages.
Rockstar claimed in a statement that it was “among the first energy drink brands to sponsor an athlete in the LPGA.” Category leader Red Bull sponsored LPGA golfer Lexi Thompson in 2010, when she turned pro at the age of 15, but the brand does not appear to currently have any golfers on its athlete roster.
“As a brand always striving to expand our reach, we saw an incredible opportunity to break into the golf world, where LPGA fans are twice as likely than the average consumer to choose Rockstar,” Steve Mateus, director of sports marketing for Rockstar Energy said in a statement.

Hull is an LPGA veteran who made her professional debut in 2013 and has played on the LPGA tour since 2015, winning two titles, and competed for Great Britain during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Anyone who knows me knows I’m all about breaking the mold and challenging the norm, which is why teaming up with Rockstar Energy feels like a perfect fit. Rockstar’s commitment to empowering bold, passionate people, including athletes like me, really resonates,” Hull said in a statement, citing the PepsiCo-owned brand’s “diverse roster of athletes.”
That roster includes, in part, Olympic silver medal-winning surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb, Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Red Gerard, two-time Olympic gold medalist skateboarder Keegan Palmer and snowboarder Jill Perkins.
Rockstar Energy’s announcement coincides with the LPGA teeing off for the 2025 tour season, beginning with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions Jan. 30-Feb. 2.
