Volvo Partners With Vacation Rental Home Company

Volvo Cars is partnering with a secluded cabin in Sweden to give visitors there a taste of the EX30.

The automaker recently revealed the new EX30 Cross Country edition there via a live-streamed fireside chat. The location choice was meant to underline “the essence of a true Cross Country experience,” according to the automaker.

Now, the same cabin is available for booking through Landfolk, a curated platform connecting travelers with handpicked holiday homes. Use of a standard Volvo EX30 electric vehicle will be included in the rental experience, since the Volvo EX30 Cross Country edition  -- which is more ruggedly stuled and is off-road capable -- is not yet in production.

Volvo Cars “is looking to expand its offering beyond just cars to complete experiences. This cabin rental opportunity alongside a broader range of gear, accessories and information aims to make exploring the outdoors as easy as possible,” according to the automaker. “The EX30 Cross Country is designed for people who want big experiences from their small, fully electric SUV. The secluded Cross Country winter cabin, located about an hour north of the town of Luleå, aims to facilitate the ultimate outdoor experience that defines ‘Cross Country,’”

Guests will have a selection of outdoor activities recommended to them, including a dog sled ride or cross-country skiing. The experience is available for a limited time only, from Feb. 21 to March 21.

For guests to get to the cabin, which is about an hour from Luleå, the closest airport, a Volvo EX30 will be waiting at one of Volvo’s rental service partners there.

“With our Cross Country products, we aim to deliver an experience, not just a car,” says Erik Severinson, Volvo chief product and strategy officer, in a release. “This secluded winter cabin in Northern Sweden, surrounded by magnificent forests, rich local fauna and an icy lake, gives you a taste of what that experience could look like in the form of an authentic Scandinavian outdoors adventure.”

Landfolk is a vacation rental company that was founded in 2021 by former Airbnb employees. The company offers holiday homes in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany.
