Hiscox Pays Tribute To Irving Berlin, Small Business

Hiscox chose Oscar night's "On the Red Carpet" to launch its “There’s No Business Like Small Business” campaign.

The score is courtesy of Irving Berlin’s classic song, “There's No Business Like Show Business” — but with a lyrical spin. It celebrates the importance of small business, its joys and travails, in a year-long campaign. There are nearly 35 million small businesses in the U.S. A second spot runs this week.

Hiscox’s AOR Terri & Sandy created the 30-second spots, which run nationally across all Disney/ABC streaming platforms. They are here and here.

“Small business owners are the directors, stage managers, choreographers, and stars of their own Broadway show. Running a business is more than a full-time production and we want to make it easy to protect their livelihood with the right insurance,” says Regine Fiddler, chief marketing officer and head of direct for Hiscox USA.

Freddie Powell of Drool Productions directed the ads, which were filmed in Bangkok, Thailand.

This is the seventh year Hiscox, a global insurer that provides a variety of admitted or specialty risk solutions, has teamed with Disney.

“When the unexpected hits, being with an insurer who understands small businesses can spell the difference between a showstopper or minor inconvenience. Hiscox offers policies specifically tailored to their needs, with a human touch — and now, a fabulous theme song,” said Todd Condie, group creative director at Terri & Sandy.

Berlin was acclaimed for songs such as “Cheek To Cheek,” “Let’s Face The Music And Dance” and “Puttin’ On The Ritz.”

T&S clients include Revlon, Freshpet, Yankee Candle and Princess Cruises.
