Long known for those satellite TV dishes on subscribers' home roofs, DirecTV is moving even further into the virtual pay TV business, helped by a new campaign titled “Nothing On Your Roof 2.0.”
And if baseball players are thinking about no satellite dishes on roofs, perhaps the fantasy could extend to their hair.
The new campaign coincides with the start of baseball season, featuring MLB stars Los Angeles Dodgers’ Dustin May, Chicago Cubs’ Dansby Swanson, and Milwaukee Brewers’ Christian Yelich.
The spot features the three players waiting for haircuts at a barbershop. They realize they can get DirecTV without a satellite dish, and fantasize about that idea.
The spot evolves into the trio singing into a different version of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” — reimagined as “Take Me Out to the Bald Game.”

The fantasy spin shows off the three players sporting a different kind of haircut, including a major bald component.
The effort is to promote DirecTV’s satellite-free streaming sports offerings — MySports with MyHome Team Genre Pack and Signature Packages.
Earlier this month, the company changed its ‘DirecTV Stream’ brand name — its internet-delivered pay TV service — to just DirecTV. The DirecTV Stream name started up August 2021 -- formerly DirecTV Now/AT&T TV.
Back in the fall, the first “Nothing On Your Roof 1.0” campaign featured San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, who wore a “footbald” helmet to promote the company’s satellite-free service.
