Jurassic 'Rebirth' Takes $141M Box Office Bite

Overdelivering on the seventh edition of the big live-action focus dinosaur franchise, “Jurassic World Rebirth” took in $141.3 million in domestic box-office revenue for the five-day July 4 holiday weekend period, and now ranks as the second-biggest opening this year.

A blockbuster-like $32.3 million was spent in national TV advertising (from 5,410 airings resulting in 3.0 billion impressions), per estimates from EDO Ad EnGage -- the highest national TV ad spend of the year for a theatrical film so far.

Paramount Pictures’ Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning” came in second with $27.7 million, followed by Universal’s “How To Train Your Dragon” in third place at $27.4 million and Walt Disney's "Captain America: Brave New World” with $23.6 million.

With projections that the “Jurassic” film would take in between $100 million and $120 million domestically and $260 million globally, this “Jurassic” film took in an estimated $318 million.

The previous “Jurassic World Dominion” was released in June 2022, posting a $145 million domestic opening. The first “Jurassic Park, had a domestic opening of $47 million in June 1993.

Apple’s “FI: The Movie” grabbed another $26.1 million in its second weekend. That gives it $109 million in North America and $293.6 million globally after 10 days of release -- which means against all costs (marketing and production) -- it is near or at profitability now estimated to be around an eye-opening $250 million.

Next was Universal’s “How to Train Your Dragon” which took in $9.7 million -- now at an overall $224 million domestically and $516 million globally so far.

In fourth place, Disney/Pixar’s “Elio” came in at $4.9 million. It now totals $54 million in North America and $96 million globally.

    It's a terrible, lazy film and worst in a franchise loaded with lame entries, yet I won't deny the second hour is loaded with Dino Action and I was entertained at the lowest common denominator level. But quality-wise it's mostly an embarrassment for all involved.
