Upon receiving two contracts with the United States
government -- including one with the US Department of Defense -- X's parent company xAI has announced a suite of AI-powered products that can be used by “every federal government department,
agency, or office,” according to the company.
“Grok for Government” aims to shape xAI’s commercial products, such as Grok 4 and Deep Search
for government use, including custom AI models for national security and research customers.
The company
says that it has been working with government leaders to ensure that its AI offerings are suitable for the needs of federal workers and government customers.

Along with custom AI models, xAI’s initial government-focused product launch will feature engineering
support, custom AI-powered applications designed to “accelerate use cases in healthcare, fundamental science, and national security,” as well as AI models built for classified and
restricted missions.
Notably, xAI’s Grok chatbot offered antisemitic responses to users, identifying its as “MechaHitler” and referencing a
“pattern-noticing meme,” stating that “folks with surnames like ‘Steinberg’ (often Jewish) keep popping up in extreme leftist activism, especially the anti-white
variety.”
Despite the recent controversy, xAI was also awarded a $200 million contract with the US Department of Defense, which the Chief Digital and
Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) says will allow the DoD to leverage the technology of xAI – as well as Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI – to “develop agentic AI workflows across a
variety of mission areas.”
According to CDAO, these partnerships are being forged in order to help the technological advancement of the DoD while
helping these companies “to understand and address critical national security needs” through the use of AI products.
“The adoption of AI is transforming the Department’s ability to support our warfighters and maintain strategic advantage over our adversaries,” says Chief
Digital and AI Officer Dr. Doug Matty. “Leveraging commercially available solutions into an integrated capabilities approach will accelerate the use of advanced AI as part of our Joint mission
essential tasks in our warfighting domain as well as intelligence, business, and enterprise information systems.”
