Disney+ Dive-in Theater Creates Poolside Activations To Promote Movies

Disney+ Dive-in Theater, a novel poolside movie night, is about to debut.

The summer collaboration between Disney+ and Swimply, a pool-sharing platform, produces an enhanced cinema experience.

Callen is responsible for the creative, which runs on social media and digital. There are social posts from Swimply that Disney+ re-posted, as well as banners on the Swimply site promoting the event.

Select Swimply hosted private pools parties in Los Angeles have been revamped as recreations of three films: "Alien," "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and "Camp Rock." "Alien" fans can dive into deep space with spaceship decor and atmospheric fog. Guests will be recruited by Weyland-Yutani agents, pose in a flight suit and watch the film surrounded by eerie green lighting and sci-fi sound design.

It's all part of the Disney+ Throwback campaign, which runs through August. The pool parties are booked from July 29-August 17. Fans can enter for a chance to attend via the Swimply app or Swimply.com.

Samantha Rosenberg, EVP, marketing, Disney+, said: "We're seeing audiences crave real-world experiences that let them step into the stories they love. Swimply's unique platform brings these immersive experiences to life in intimate, exclusive settings."

Unlike traditional outdoor screenings, each Disney+ Dive-in Theater activation is part of a specific themed environment, complete with interactive elements.

Callen's client work includes Nickelodeon, Pabst, Ibotta and Carl's, Jr.
