“Our rum is more than just a
spirit, it's a bond shared between family, maestros (master rum makers) and community,” said Jassil Villanueva Quintana, Brugal's fifth-generation rum master related to Andres Brugal, its
founder.
Agency of record Hudson Rouge created out-of-home placements in New York and Miami, as well as digital spots, site banners and paid and organic social media to promote the handcrafted
spirit.
The ads will run through next year, with an original score by Interval Music.
Jon Pearce, Chief Creative Officer, Hudson Rouge, told Agency Daily: “By
focusing on the passion and craft of Brugal’s incredible five generations of rum-making, we’re aiming to align with an equally discerning and passionate community out there. People who
look to make socializing and celebrating even more meaningful. This chapter for Brugal is not about reinvention, but reintroduction — sharing the depth of its craft, community and provenance
with a global audience, while staying true to its origins.”

The double-aged Brugal Rum has been made in the Dominican Republic for 135 years, beginning in 1888, and stored in
American oak white casks that once held bourbon. The rum is aged eight years and has notes of coffee, vanilla and raisin. Then the rum spends six more years in Spanish sherry casks, where it absorbs
scents of toffee, citrus and red fruits.
Quintana said every element of the process — distillation to packaging — relies on quality. Recognized as the youngest female rum
master in the world by World Record Academy in 2015, she recommends buyers enjoy the rum neat.
Brugal Rum, a proud family business, is owned by Edrington, which also owns leading
Scotch whisky brands, such as The Macallan, Highland Park and The Famous Grouse.
Hudson Rouge's client work includes Lobos 1707 tequila and Lincoln cars. The agency is part of the VML network,
which is owned by WPP.
