Ford Links With Amazon For New Spin On Used-Vehicle Shopping

Ford Motor Co. is making used vehicles available for sale on Amazon Autos.

The collaboration allows customers to browse a participating local dealer's inventory directly through Amazon's website, complete most of the paperwork online, and then schedule a convenient time to pick up the selected vehicle, according to Wendy Lane, senior manager of Ford Blue Advantage vehicles.

Customers can browse participating inventory within a 75-mile radius, view itemized pricing, and secure financing from a selection of banks, including Ford Credit, all on the Amazon Autos site.

The customer relationship remains with the local participating Ford dealership, which handles pricing, vehicle pickup, and all future service needs. Amazon facilitates the initial online transaction.

The program is launching in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, with plans to expand to additional markets. A Ford spokesman says about 160 of its 2,900 U.S. retailers have started the process with Amazon.

Every Ford vehicle sold on the site will be backed by a Ford Blue Advantage warranty, which means it has passed a thorough multi-point inspection, and each comes with roadside assistance.

All certified pre-owned vehicles sold by participating Ford dealers on Amazon Autos come with a money-back guarantee, allowing customers to return the vehicle within 14 days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Amazon Autos has expanded since its launch with new Hyundai vehicles in 48 markets in December 2024.

The online retailer announced in August that non-Hyundais and used vehicles would soon be able to join the marketplace.

Hertz Car Sales was among the first. Sales initially began in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle, with plans to expand to Hertz Car Sales’ 45 locations nationwide.
