Ford Hiring 'Nomenclature Strategist'

The company that brought you the Probe, the Focus and the Mustang is looking for some help with future names, and not just of products.

Ford Motor Co. has posted a job listing for a “nomenclature specialist.”

The job posting, on Simply Hired, is for a newly created role reporting to the Director of Global Nomenclature and supports Ford’s global Center of Excellence for naming and taxonomy.

The new hire will “collaborate with brand, marketing, and product teams to integrate naming work into go-to-market and portfolio strategy.”

“In this position, you’ll help drive clarity and consistency in how we name our products, services, and experiences across the enterprise,” according to the post. “From vehicle design to HR, internal comms to marketing, you’ll collaborate with teams across the entire company—making this one of the most connected roles at Ford.”

The person “will lead the end-to-end execution of naming initiatives across Ford’s product and service portfolio. This person should be both creatively fluent and strategically disciplined, with a sharp eye for detail, strong facilitation skills, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder dynamics.”

The role is ideal for someone who can “merge linguistic creativity with business strategy, delivering names that are not only memorable and meaningful, but aligned with our broader brand architecture and legally viable.”

This is not an entry-level position. The ad says the ideal hire will have “minimum 8 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree” and preferably ‘minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with a master’s degree.”

This position is considered Leader Level 6, which, according to a Ford new-hire document, means a salary between $112,000 and $212,000, according to Motor1, which first posted about a similar position being open back in August.
