As Threads grows its user base, the decentralized
Twitter-like platform is enhancing its API with additional social-media management tools designed to help brands and creators expand reach and scheduling functionality.
First,
the Meta-owned platform is onboarding new content types and formats, including the option to cross-share Threads posts to Instagram Stories via a linked Instagram account.
Marketers can also
schedule longer text posts, up to 10,000 characters, along with new formatting possibilities and GIF accessibility.
In terms of developer controls, marketers and creators will also see the ability to embed public Threads posts into their website or app without having to provide API access tokens or
carrying out an app review.

In addition, new post intent parameters allow developers to invite users of
their apps and websites to create topic tags, set reply controls, and compose replies or quote posts.
To
better tap into Threads trends and content engagement analytics, these new API tools allow social-media managers to search for public posts by media type or author username.
The
platform has also lowered the follower threshold for profile discovery from 1,000 to 100 followers.
Threads is also
attempting to give brands and creators a more immediate way to reply to consumers and followers.
The platform’s new API tools include controls allowing post creation with reply
approvals and the ability to approve or ignore pending replies.
Finally, when posts are published or deleted,
social-media managers can now receive real-time notifications, in addition to existing reply and mention "webhooks."
