Stagwell's Penn Killed It In Cannes This Morning, Cinematically

Stagwell Chairman-CEO Mark Penn likes to leave the Cannes Lions crowd, well, not exactly laughing.

At the end of his 2025 presentation, he evoked a dystopian scenario playing a clip from the epic "Twilight Zone" episode "To Serve Man."

In case you're not familiar, you can see the clip above. But -- spoiler alert -- it's about an alien cookbook for serving humans in a culinary context.

"Consequently, it wasn't the be-all and end-all that they expected," Penn recalled at the end of a wide-ranging conversation with American Eagle CMO Craig Brommers at the Lions festival this morning, adding: "That's always the fear in AI. This year, we're coming back with a little clip from 'Murderbot' that represents, perhaps, the same kind of thought."

Roll clip below.

"Well, there you have on the one hand the AI bot might be the greatest thing for humanity ever. Or it might just kill everybody there in an instant," Penn concluded. "We will all find out."
