Fadeaway Emails: A Way Of Identifying Temporary Addresses

Email marketers can suffer big headaches when trying to mail temporary, disposable and throwaway addresses.

Short-term addresses are useful for customers—they can be used for downloads, free trials and website forms. But sales and marketing teams aren’t so thrilled with these addresses, which make it harder to keep data reliable and up-to-date.

Here's a possible workaround: BizzContacts has launched what it calls a Disposable Email Checker.

The free online tool is designed to give businesses “a simple way to identify temporary email domains and make better decisions about lead and contact quality,” a BizzContacts spokesperson says.

It works like this: Senders enter an email address into the tool to determine if an address is disposable, not disposable, or whether it cannot be determined.

The system then validates the format, extracts the domain and checks it against disposable email intelligence.

This sort of detection can aid in lead-quality assessment and data hygiene. Moreover, it can help businesses evaluate inbound leads and reduce low-quality registrations.

“Data quality starts with understanding the information entering your systems,” the spokesperson says.

The possible business applications include:

  • Lead generation—Users can detect temporary domains among newly generated leads.
  • Marketing—Marketers can evaluate the quality of form submissions and other responses to campaigns.

Here are some other uses for individual teams:

  • Sales teams can “sanity-check” inbound contact information before investing resources into outreach.
  • SaaS companies can identify temporary addresses used during free trials and registrations.
  • Website owners can investigate suspicious or repeated form submissions.
  • Data teams may add disposable-domain detection to their contact-quality processes.

The company cautions that a “Not Disposable” result does not necessarily mean a mailbox exists or is deliverable.

BizzContacts does not require users to create an account to perform a check.
