Snapchat wants to become a hub for creating,
sharing, and managing plans, blending digital and real-life functionality while challenging popular apps like Partiful.
Internal findings from Snap show that 35% of U.S.-based users between the ages of 13 and 24 report using group chat to make plans and organize events. In launching its “Plans”
feature, the company wants to nudge users from their text chains to the social media app when attempting to meet up.
Like other party-planning platforms, the Plans hub gives Snap users the ability to send and receive invitations from mutual friends; track the time, date and number of attendees; organize
upcoming meet-ups; and, soon, create events directly within Chat.

To create a “Plan,”
Snapchatters can “add a title, choose a date and time, invite up to 200 friends, and personalize their event with dynamic Bitmoji-powered cover art that automatically updates as the plan comes
together,” per the announcement.
Invitations are delivered directly to each user within a one-on-one
chat. Similar to Partiful, guests have the option to RSVP with “Going,” “Maybe,” or “Can’t Go” responses.
Once a
Snapchat Plan is created, the hosts can see who is attending, invite additional friends, and update details. Hosts can also send reminders one hour prior to the event’s start time.
In creating the Plans hub, Snap envisions the feature being used for planning real-life birthdays, sporting
events, study sessions, and weekend hangouts.
Party planning apps are becoming more popular, with Partiful
adding over two million additional users in 2025. With IRL meet-up and friend-tracking features like Snap’s real-time Map feature, the social media
company is trying to make Plans the new go-to platform in this market, targeting the app’s 493 million daily users.
